Thanks for answering my question! I love that saying “simple scale, fancy fail.” I’ve recently thought that my best course of action is to stick with index funds as I juggle life right now. There’s a lot of “shiny objects” as a higher earner so it’s very tempting but I agree that consistently investing is key. Your channel is so interesting and I share it with my co-workers and they like it too. It is quite a difference in pay scales all over in different states for health care workers. I emailed you recently because I do not know that many healthcare workers are aware of the changes that are coming under healthcare reform and the transition from "fee for services" to "value based care". I thought maybe you can do a episode on this if you think it is interesting. The role of the nurse is expanded to take on some of the roles of the doctor. I am both a RN, BSN and a RPh in the South (LA, MS, AL region). I have been working as a RPh but applied to a RN position during the COVID pandemic and interviewed and they told me to call HR for the pay and for BSN pay was starting at $21.79/hr with a max pay of 33 plus change for 20 years plus experience. My husband said it was not worth it. At this time they were paying for in house contracts $80.00 per hour to not have to pay travel nurse pay. It was really sad for pay. I did not take the job. I loved being a pharmacist until the shift started to move toward value based care. My managers said I will likely not have a job at all and to have a chance at having a job I will have to be board certified because pharmacy is going to be all "clinical" also known as "nursing" with the same billing codes as a nurse in the PCMH model or ACO. They have the same billing codes for transitions of care and chronic care management, annual wellness visits, and so on. I would not pursue pharmacy under value based care. Pharmacy was great for me to get a break from med-surg, ortho/neuro, and ICU nursing and they pay was triple nurse pay in the south but not anymore. Keep up the good work, transparently about pay, and good information.

Really need to title this NURSE PRACTITIONER instead of just nurse. That's like saying the RESIDENT MAKES $600K instead of DOCTOR MAKES $600K. Or INTERN MAKES $600K vs SENIOR ANALYST MAKES $100K. There's a difference in education, experience, and time.

Saw you on Kaiser’s CNA newsletter 😊. Just wondering if Kaiser is doing anything about per diem nurses not getting hours. They hired way too many nurses! I work in Kaiser Morse and I was only able to get 1 shift last month.

Is Stockton California good for nurses , is there a need for nurses there, the house is cheap in Stockton ,Ca but no idea if pay is good or the patient ratio is good , hope you make videos for Stockton , Ca and Victorville, Ca coz it’s a new area so land is still cheap, but not sure if the area is good

Do you really want to throw away that much money for a wedding , we’re the same me and my husband decided to use our money for our house payment instead of wedding for a day event , now we’re still proud of ourselves for that decision. The money we used for the house came back 100x , if we had used it for a wedding the money is gone after the wedding day.

THANK YOU! BRAVO! @24:20 Someone finally said it! Stop worrying about taxes! It’s not about what you pay in taxes but what keep! Thoses taxes helps you keep things nice! Like roads, bridges, unemployment insurance. We all forgot what the unemployment line looked like in Florida in 2020. 😢 so sad. But hey there is always someone who wants something for nothing. I left California in 2020 and have regretted it ever since! I’ve lived in Nevada, Florida, and Colorado. Every time I leave- then come back to CALIFORNIA. Once I’m back- I’ll never leave again! The salaries are unmatched even with the taxes! An iPhone is $1000 in any state- I would rather afford my smart phone than be here where average worker makes 40K…Lessoned learned!!! its why California has 40 million people. But hey let the haters hate. Those of us who know… KNOW! I’ll make more money and learn to survive IN CALIFORNIA than make less money and try to survive! Can’t beat childcare that is family. I hope the move is worth it! Best of luck!
